Home Organization Inspiration: Kitchen

I have had enough! My kitchen is so disorganized I am inspired to get organized and change. Currently I can't see anything, and half the time I don' know where anything is. So, the goal is to get organized and start making my kitchen a place I want to cook instead of a place that I dread going into, especially the pantry. My family tend to leave the bags open so I need tons of air tight storage. I'm tired of stale chips, bread, and cereal. Here is my Inspiration! and some of the items I have been gathering.

All images are from Pinterest, if you don't have an account, where have you been? I'm a visual person so the site helps me gather their thoughts.

Spring Kids Haul

Why is it when I'm trying to shop for me, I have to remember I have children that are consistently growing and changing. Just when I think they are good, their feet size grows and their pants are high waters. Currently they need almost a whole new wardrobe. So, I thought it would be fun to create a spring wardrobe for each kid and their personality.

MAVERICK, 7 (going on 25) - He is my trendy urban kid. Loves his "Nikes and Jordans," his loves style and comfort. Meaning he usually wears tracksuits or joggers. This makes it pretty easy for my to find stuff for him.

DOMINIC, 11 (going on 40) - He doesn't have any interest in fashion. If I put it in his closet he is wearing it. But, he does enjoy jeans over sweats and a good moto jacket. And, he prefers Converse and Vans, but enjoys the Nike Mids.

Macy's, Finishline, Hibbett, and H&M are my go to places to find clothing for the boys because their is always a sale. Where do you find cute clothes for your kids? I'm always on the look out to find unique items.

Switching up the program

After a few freakout sessions, I decided I needed to stop. Stop with the strict diets. Stop with the comparisons. Removing myself from those situations was necessary to move forward in a healthy manner.

Do I want to lose weight?
Short answer. Yes, but there is more to it than that. I have to look at the lifestyle I want. I love to hang out with friends. Date nights. Family days. All which are usually filled with sweet treats, fried food and alcohol.

So, What sacrifices am I willing to make?
I willing to adjust my eating. Meaning there will be two meals within the week I will eat what I want. I will fully enjoy myself with no regret.  Incorporating less processed foods and more vegetables. That's where I am. I haven't lost any weight. I have actually gained what but I am going to keep moving.

I have started using my gym membership with more intention. I have started stretching, mediating and getting to know me. I'll keep you updated on my progress. Right now I am focusing on the process, not the end goal.

If you are on the same journey, remember to go at your own pace.

Updating my workout wardrobe: Winter Edition

Hello! Hello! Hello! Healthy living is in full effect over here! And, what that means is, anything I have to do to get motivated, I will do. From changing the way I grocery shop, to what I wear. I am on a mission to change my mindset when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle. So, one of the first things I did was update my workout clothes. I drank the juice and finally brought some pieces for Fabletics. And, I have been addicted for the past two years.

For those of you that have a curvy frame, Fabletics has some bomb outfits that are pretty affordable. I'm always here for a deal especially when the quality is there. I consistently update my workout clothes because to be honest, my workout clothes are also my run around town with my kid clothes or run errands clothes. I have realized that clothes play a big part in my self-esteem, if I don't look good, I don't feel good even if I did workout.

I usually mix my Fabletics with deals I find on Ebay from Nike or Adidas. I love Nike's Fleece Tech line because its thick and has modern designs that I appreciate. TJMAXX also has nice affordable workout clothes that I snag when I need sports bras or a cute fleece.

Workout clothes don't have to be expensive to make you feel confident or look nice. Where do you buy your workout clothes?

Reformed Procrastinator's Guide to Valentine's Day: Boys and Husband

For the BOYS:
As a boymom, I spoil my boys with love and when Valentine's Day comes around I love giving them something special. Whether it be a nice piece of chocolate a toy or something they need. It's fun to surprise them. My mom used to do the same for me. Every year she would give me something special and it meant something to me. But with COVID, I can't afford to be a procrastinator like I am known to be, I'm starting a few weeks early. Here are some ideas I have:

FOR THE HUSBAND:
Okay, Valentine's Day is the best time to shower my love with some of his favorite things. I'm lucky that most of his favorite things revolve around comfort. Here are some ideas if your love needs a little selfcare:

That's all I got. I try to give my guys things that they need. And chocolate because who doesn't love chocolate.

Creating a Capsule Collection: From Your Current Wardrobe

I worked in retail for a long time. I loved dressing people but never thought fashion was my thing. But, I realized I have a secret passion for fashion even though I don't work in retail anymore.

I decided to be my favorite model and go through my closet and create my dream wardrobe based of my current closet. So, let start with the basic. It's import that every closet have a few basics to build on.

I have been holding on to so many clothes that no longer serve me. They don't bring me joy and often bring me sadness. So, I did it. I threw 90% of my closet away. I bagged everything up and now it's time to rebuild. The first place I go to is Pinterest. I have a pin board called My Style but to be honest, I have never looked at it. So, here is my inspiration, style that I gravitate towards.

Based on my body type I follow one rule, if it is tight and fitted on the top then its loose on the bottom and vice versa.

After purging my closet and looking at pinterest, I thought about the lifestyle I lead and here is what I came up with:

I'm convinced every closet needs:

-White dress shirt
-Tailored Dress Coat
-Moto Jacket
-Denim Jacket
-Black Dress
-Slip Dress
-Wrap Dress
- Jeans (that fit well no matter the style)
- Black Pants

Every closet needs each of these items. Go towards colors that make you happy, you will be more likely to wear them. After you have these add the fun stuff

-Fun, sexy blouses
-Cute, colorful sweaters
- fun track suits
- cool jumpers

As you add to your closet the basics add versatility to your wardrobe. You will be able to have endless combinations that will be amazing each time. The fit is what is important remember that.

New Year: Remember, Its Never Too Late To Get Your Shit Together

Happy New Year! I took the past few weeks to take a step back and reflect. It's good to mentality + physically reset from time to time. You don't have to wait to the new year to discover things aren't working out the way you planned and change directions. As you take this moment, ask your self this:

Where am I going? Am I on the right track?

For me, I feel like I am on the right track but fear gets in the way. For years, I haven't been able to push through. It took me some time to see why I was stuck, now that I see I can work on navigating with the fear. After you identify where you are going (even if it's a short term goal) start thinking about how are you going to get there.

What tools or steps do I have to take to move in the right direction?

In order to be successful, I need to master the art of consistency and discipline. I have been battling with these important components for years. Coupled with anxiety and fear, it has been crippling. So, how do I over come years of breakdowns?

Don't.

I'm done fighting with myself, this time I am taking a gentler approach. Planning is important. Starting small. Instead of overwhelming myself, I do what I can. Whenever my brain becomes idle, I start to move. Whether it's exercising, planning a reel, or writing one blog post, I work with what I have.

As you progress on your journey remove any and all negative energy.

Not much to say here but its important to be in a positive space so you can focus.

And lastly, give grace. Life is busy, it is heavy and it is messy. Sometimes it is necessary to take a break or reset. Realizing life can be overwhelming, heartbreaking, and tiresome.

At the end of the day. New day, new chance to live the life to you. You just have to put in the work.

Remember. You are doing great.
