Reformed Procrastinator's Guide to Valentine's Day: Boys and Husband

For the BOYS:
As a boymom, I spoil my boys with love and when Valentine's Day comes around I love giving them something special. Whether it be a nice piece of chocolate a toy or something they need. It's fun to surprise them. My mom used to do the same for me. Every year she would give me something special and it meant something to me. But with COVID, I can't afford to be a procrastinator like I am known to be, I'm starting a few weeks early. Here are some ideas I have:

FOR THE HUSBAND:
Okay, Valentine's Day is the best time to shower my love with some of his favorite things. I'm lucky that most of his favorite things revolve around comfort. Here are some ideas if your love needs a little selfcare:

That's all I got. I try to give my guys things that they need. And chocolate because who doesn't love chocolate.

Creating a Capsule Collection: From Your Current Wardrobe

I worked in retail for a long time. I loved dressing people but never thought fashion was my thing. But, I realized I have a secret passion for fashion even though I don't work in retail anymore.

I decided to be my favorite model and go through my closet and create my dream wardrobe based of my current closet. So, let start with the basic. It's import that every closet have a few basics to build on.

I have been holding on to so many clothes that no longer serve me. They don't bring me joy and often bring me sadness. So, I did it. I threw 90% of my closet away. I bagged everything up and now it's time to rebuild. The first place I go to is Pinterest. I have a pin board called My Style but to be honest, I have never looked at it. So, here is my inspiration, style that I gravitate towards.

Based on my body type I follow one rule, if it is tight and fitted on the top then its loose on the bottom and vice versa.

After purging my closet and looking at pinterest, I thought about the lifestyle I lead and here is what I came up with:

I'm convinced every closet needs:

-White dress shirt
-Tailored Dress Coat
-Moto Jacket
-Denim Jacket
-Black Dress
-Slip Dress
-Wrap Dress
- Jeans (that fit well no matter the style)
- Black Pants

Every closet needs each of these items. Go towards colors that make you happy, you will be more likely to wear them. After you have these add the fun stuff

-Fun, sexy blouses
-Cute, colorful sweaters
- fun track suits
- cool jumpers

As you add to your closet the basics add versatility to your wardrobe. You will be able to have endless combinations that will be amazing each time. The fit is what is important remember that.

New Year: Remember, Its Never Too Late To Get Your Shit Together

Happy New Year! I took the past few weeks to take a step back and reflect. It's good to mentality + physically reset from time to time. You don't have to wait to the new year to discover things aren't working out the way you planned and change directions. As you take this moment, ask your self this:

Where am I going? Am I on the right track?

For me, I feel like I am on the right track but fear gets in the way. For years, I haven't been able to push through. It took me some time to see why I was stuck, now that I see I can work on navigating with the fear. After you identify where you are going (even if it's a short term goal) start thinking about how are you going to get there.

What tools or steps do I have to take to move in the right direction?

In order to be successful, I need to master the art of consistency and discipline. I have been battling with these important components for years. Coupled with anxiety and fear, it has been crippling. So, how do I over come years of breakdowns?

Don't.

I'm done fighting with myself, this time I am taking a gentler approach. Planning is important. Starting small. Instead of overwhelming myself, I do what I can. Whenever my brain becomes idle, I start to move. Whether it's exercising, planning a reel, or writing one blog post, I work with what I have.

As you progress on your journey remove any and all negative energy.

Not much to say here but its important to be in a positive space so you can focus.

And lastly, give grace. Life is busy, it is heavy and it is messy. Sometimes it is necessary to take a break or reset. Realizing life can be overwhelming, heartbreaking, and tiresome.

At the end of the day. New day, new chance to live the life to you. You just have to put in the work.

Remember. You are doing great.
